I tried to burn a DVD, the files are big so i expect it to take time and play some games but when i got back i receive this error.

I tried again and this i just let it do its job and get some sleep and then here it is again.

Is there a way to fix this?

Hello Carey,

To work around that issue, you will need to try the following procedures:

Solution 1

  • Since your drive says it is having problems writing to the media, you will need to try and burn at a faster speed, for instance 12x, 16x.
  • After it has completed you will have to get rif of the TDK's and the get some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs and use them for burning.

Solution 2

You can as well get a  new burner which has got support for the dodgy discs that you are attempting to use or you can opt to purchase Verbatims and use them with the drive that you already have.

The price that you will use to purchase  a new drive and the expenses you will incur to get Verbatim DL's bought in bulk is almost the same, but it is far much better  if you got Verbatims since they stand a higher chance of working in an old drive as opposed to Ritek dye used in your TDK discs in a new drive.

Regards,

Carl

If you are using ImgBurn to burn a DVD when you receive “Unable to Recover TOC,” first, try updating your software. Download the latest ImgBurn and update your existing version. Once the program is updated, try burning your DVD again and see if it works. If this doesn’t work, try using a different blank DVD disc and try again.

See if this works. If it fails again, try using a different brand of DVD-R disc like if you are using Memorex DVD-R discs, try a different brand like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. The problem there is the dye/MID that the disc uses. It is the most important component of a disc.

If after changing or using a different brand of disc you still have the same problem, you probably need to replace your DVD writer. Before replacing your DVD writer, try burning your DVD first with DAEMON Tools Lite and see if it works there.
