Hello,

I faced an error message. I don’t know why this happened.

 BSOD, error 0x0000009F

– Windows 7 Pro x64
– Fresh system. Installed and updated yesterday.
– BSOD occurred while downloading files from Origin and Adobe Download Assistant

I have never seen this BSOD before the only difference is that now I have new SSD for OS.

Could someone please tell me what caused this error: driver_power_state_failure 0x0000009F?

Hello Jordon This is an error that occurs if a device driver is in an invalid or inconsistent power state. This error usually occurs when you are shutting down your computer when it is resuming from standby or hibernation mode. This means that you should check your machine’s power management compatibility and settings The error probably occurred because after you click on the shutdown or restart buttons in the shutdown dialog box, restart or shutdown will start but then the computer may hang during the process. This is usually followed by a blank screen with the mouse pointer displayed, but when you try to move it you get no response. You can fix the error by trying out the following software at: http://totalpchealth.com/tph-lp/blue-screen.php

If you are now using an SSD or solid-state drive for your system drive or the drive where Microsoft Windows is installed, there’s no problem. An SSD drive is no different from an ordinary IDE or SATA drive. It’s just that an SSD is built for speed. It can never be a cause for a blue-screen error. After seeing this screen, force shut down your computer.

After maybe a minute, start your computer, wait for about ten minutes after the computer has fully started and see if the blue-screen error appears again. If it doesn’t, continue what you are downloading. In case after some time the error appears again, try remembering the last thing you did on your computer before the blue-screen error appears. Try to remember if you installed a program or added a new hardware on your motherboard and installed its driver.

Those are the possible causes why the blue-screen error appears. If you installed a program before the blue-screen error appears, uninstall it in Safe mode since you cannot do it in normal mode because of the blue-screen error. To start your computer in Safe mode, restart your computer. After the POST screen appears and before the Windows logo appears, press F8.

In the Advanced Options Menu, select Safe Mode then press Enter twice. Once in Safe mode, click Start, Control Panel, and then go to “Add or Remove Programs”. Select the program from the list then click Remove or Uninstall. When you are finished, restart your computer normally and see if the blue-screen error appears again.

In case you added a new hardware before the error appears, if you installed a driver for the device, uninstall it then restart the computer. Verify that your machine no longer shows the blue-screen error. If you still need to use the new device, visit its manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver applicable to your operating system.
