Hi All,

When I am trying to record sound from a microphone using AudaCity and click record on Bandicam I get an error that says failed to start audio capture. I am using windows XP and trying to use Record sound from game option. I followed all the steps to perform an audio capture and tried applying the fix for setting the stereo mix setting properly. But I still cannot record sound. What is the mistake I am making? Can someone help me to resolve this issue please? Thanks a lot for the valuable help rendered. Regards

Failed to start audio capture.

Hi Brian,
The steps to resolve this error are as mentioned below:
1) Uncheck the 'Record sound' option from the list

Record-sound-option-from-the-settings-menu

2) Go to the 'Playback' option and enable 'Speakers'
3) Navigate to the 'Recordings' tab and enable 'Microphone'
4) Select 'Settings' button and change the sound device of the software
5) Connect the speakers and connect the sound driver automatically
6) Uncheck the 'Run this program in the compatibility' option

I think you are doing the recording incorrectly. Since you are using Bandicam to record the audio of your game, you don’t need to use a microphone to record the sound because Bandicam uses the speakers itself to record the sound. You can use a microphone but that is optional. The basic is to just use the speakers. Also, before using Bandicam, make sure your computer meets the requirements.

Bandicam supports Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit. It requires 1.3 GHz or faster Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD Athlon XP 1500+ processor, 512 MB RAM, 1 GB free space, and 800 x 600 minimum screen resolution. Before you start recording, make sure sound is enabled in Bandicam.

To enable sound, start Bandicam then select “Video” on the left pane. Click “Settings” under “Record” section. In “Recording settings” window, in “Sound” tab, make sure “Record sound” is checked. In “Primary Sound Device,” make sure “(Default Sound Device)” is selected then click “OK.” This should fix the problem.

Bandicam enable sound

If you want to record sound with your microphone, select your microphone in the “Secondary Sound Device.” This will allow you to record sound with your microphone. By default, microphone is disabled that’s why you cannot record sound with your microphone. For any additional help, visit How to record sound.
