Xerox printer SMB scanning with Mountain Lion

Dear Techyv Users,

I am having a small issue with my Xerox printer SMB scanning with Mountain Lion in network, as it is giving an authentication error. Earlier when I used Snow Leopard, there was no issue at all. Please guide me to overcome this issue.

Xerox printer SMB scanning with Mountain Lion

This is a common occurrence.

The solution is to disable and then re-enable SMB using these steps: 

1. Go to System Preferences

2. Go to Sharing

3. Go to File Sharing

4. Go to Options and then check enable SMB on the box that you see there.

Please note that it has been reported that a lot of problems occur with SMB 10.8 and I therefore suggest using SAMBA and SMBUP as alternatives in case the above procedure doesn't work.
