Hi Experts,

WinEdt (v7) is unable to close a pdf document and also can not accumulate a new version of the software as it has been blocked by Adobe Acrobat access to the file. I have received the error message “Cannot Open DDE Link to: “C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAcrobat9.0AcrobatAcrobat.exe

Service: AcroviewA10

Topic: Control

DDEOpen ("%$('PDF-View')", "("%$('Acro-DDE_Service');"")”.

The screenshot of the error message is given here. I tried to solve this problem. But no result.

Anyone having idea on these issues please help me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

This problem occurred due to the constantly changing interface of Adobe systems. This is a very common problem face by many people. As Adobe frequently keeps changing its interface, this error occurs. It is common with all the versions of WinEdt.

If you want to get rid of this problem forever then you could use other pdf readers like Foxit pdf reader or Sumatra pdf. These pdf readers do not change the interfaces constantly so the error will not occur. To change the pdf reader that is associated with WinEdt, follow the steps below:

1. In the options window of WinEdt click on the Settings tab. A new window will open.

2. In the new window, click on pdf viewer and then select the other pdf viewer software that you installed as an alternate to Adobe pdf reader.

3. Save the location of the alternate pdf reader as the default location for the pdf viewer and click ok.

Hope this information helps you solve your problem.

The error is because the system settings are not correct during the installation.
The steps to solve this error are as mentioned below:
1) Close the Adobe product used as PDF viewer when working with WinEdit
2) Navigate to the location where the PDF files are saved
3) Click 'Options' > 'Execution Modes' > 'PDF viewer'
4) Change the path to 'PDF viewer Executable in the system
5) The path of the system should be 'C:Program Files(x86)Adobe ReaderAdobeReader.exe'
6) Restart the system after the paths are changed

Hello there! It must be frustrating if it keeps on occurring even though the software has already been installed. Here are some simple things you can try: Reboot your computer. Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. Check your security software and make sure to add Acrobat as a trusted application.

In order to overcome the error, you shall have to replace Acrobat opendoc-find.edt and Acrobat OpenDoc.edt with the latest version. This issue is basically related to Acroviewer.

Acrobat OpenDoc-Find.edt basically searches the PDF documents and Acrobat OpenDoc.edt is used for Sumatra PDF viewer.

Please download the OpenDocAcrobat file from here.

Your Adobe Acrobat may be corrupted, crushed, or some of its parts may be infected, so it shows these types of errors.

Sometimes, the virus disables the parts of the application that are infected, and as a result, it does not work. Your Acrobat 9.0 has this type of program, so you should uninstall it and then reinstall it. Use a good antivirus software to check your computers for different viruses.

Now, enjoy it.
