Windows Essential, the anti virus

I have heard that Windows Essential is one of the best anti-virus application. But it has never detected any virus or worm so far in my Laptop and that creates doubts about its efficiency.

Is it really a good one?

Windows Essential, the anti virus

Windows Essential is a free Antivirus. It has Pros like Simple user interface and not confusing. It has got real good rating from independent labs for Virus detection BUT what I found was it  does not have strong protection on Windows XP.

It still had some threats left after completing its run.

If you really are an admirer of Microsoft products and feel really safe in their hands, then go for it. I would give it a 3 rating out of 5.

There are many other free Antiviruses that perform lot better.

You can try one of these:

I would go for something like Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free 1.51, Norton Power Eraser, Norman Malware Cleaner 2.1, Comodo Cleaning Essentials etc

Comodo Cleaning Essentials is the best bet.

If your system perform well then you don't need to worry about your antivirus. As I am also using window security essential antivirus for last 4 months and its work perfectly.

It detected viruses and worms time by time (see attached my recent detected worm detail for your review).

The best thing which I really like about WSE that it's too light and didn't speed down my system.
