Windows 8 OS Black screen even without Avast that installed

Hello everyone,

My Acer Aspire E1 571 6601 notebook was having issues on startup. Instead of showing the logon screen, a blank black screen with my mouse cursor will show up. I searched online about this issue and found out that this is related to Avast Antivirus. But I don't have this on my computer. So far, I have tried to press different shortcuts on my keyboard to access my Desktop but none works. I am thinking that the reason why it doesn't work is because I I have a password on my local account. So I attempt to type my password even if I am not seeing anything on my screen. But it failed.

They say, you cannot access Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key in Windows 8, so I am really lost right now. I wish to resolve this issue without reinstalling my OS because the issue seems to be just easy. I have no Windows 8 disk with me so can someone please give me a helping hand and let me resolve this issue? Thanks.

It seems that the Boot sector has been damaged. This is a serious problem but you should not worry about that as you can get rid of this problem by running repair. Try before this several time and if logged in then try to run the security essentials, However, if you always get the black screen before boot then finally, you have no way but to run the repair. Hope this will work.
