I have a mouse which works fine on my desktop pc but when I connect to my laptop, it does not work. What may be the problem?

Is there any problem with the driver of my laptop?

Hi

The problem you have raised may be due to several reasons. One of the reasons is your PC is infected with virus. The virus may have caused the problem. You should install a good antivirus program with up to date.

Another way to fix the problem is selecting the “recovery manager”. There you should allow whatever security pops up. You can also change sensitivity setting of mouse from the tray icon. When you have pointed the right icon, right click or double click. Then select “point device properties”. Click “device setting” and go to setting options. Turn on the virtual scrolling.

Hope this helps.

I’m not sure if that’s possible because a mouse, especially USB mouse, uses only generic drivers on Microsoft Windows unless the mouse itself has its own specific driver to use to make it work. But if your mouse doesn’t include its own driver then it should work on your laptop. A laptop, just like a regular desktop computer, has many USB ports in it.

It normally has four USB ports just like a desktop computer, two on every side. If your mouse doesn’t work on one USB port, you still have three more ports to try. On the other hand, if you’ve already tried all those ports and still nothing happens, try updating your operating system to the latest Service Pack to also update the USB port drivers.

If you have Microsoft Windows XP, download and update your operating system to Windows XP Service Pack 3. This is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows XP. If you have Microsoft Windows Vista, download and update to Windows Vista Service Pack 2. This is also the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows Vista.

If you have Microsoft Windows 7, download and update to Windows 7 Service Pack 1. This is the latest and only Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows 7. If you have Microsoft Windows 8, you should update to Windows 8.1 to have a continued support.
