Why can’t I print or preview my files in MS Project 2007?

Hi all,

Whenever I wanted to print or preview my files, I got an error message. Please see the error message below:

You cannot print or preview because the print area of the page is too small. Try one of the following:

• Decrease the page margins.
• Decrease the scaling percentage. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Page tab. Under Scaling, decrease the number in the % Normal Size box.

And there is an answer in Microsoft help, but it is useless!

 

I didn't add any image file. I cannot print preview any Project file, even I followed what the error message says.

 

I even adjusted the margin to .1cm and decrease the scaling to 10%.

 

However, I still cannot print or print preview my document. Any documents. I even tried with only typing one task information and click print preview, but the program just shows the same error message.

 

Even when I open a new mpp file with only one task row, I still cannot print preview and same error pops-up! 

 

I unselect the Grant view in 3-D, decrease the page margin and scaling percentage, deselect any header, footer and legend, and it just shows the same error message. 

 

Any ideas please?

Why can’t I print or preview my files in MS Project 2007?

When the printer is not printing your files, then follow the following steps.

 

• First of all you will check that you have the new version of MS Project.
• Then check the layout of your file. Then if it didn’t work, then change the setting, and reset all changes to default.
• If you check all the settings and change it to default but still getting error then the problem is with your printer.

 

If there are problem with your printer then follow these steps:

 

• Uninstall your printer drivers and then download the printer drivers from internet if there is a CD with your printer then install drivers from that CD.
• If you install your printer drivers but it still not working then contact with printer’s company or contact from where you purchased your printer.

Why can’t I print or preview my files in MS Project 2007?

If you can not do any print preview in any of the project that you are doing, then there must be something wrong with the application.

If the problem is only happening with the project that is currently opened you can assume that maybe there is only something you should change in the setting of Microsoft Project 2007 to correct the problem, but instead it happens in any file or all of the files that you tried to open.

You can not do any printing if you can not first see its output through print preview.

Try uninstalling first Microsoft Project 2007 and then run a disk check on your computer to know if there is something wrong.

1. Right click on drive C and then select Properties.
2. Click Tools tab.
3. Click Check Now button.
4. Check Automatically fix file system errors and then click Start.

Install the application back after the disk check. Maybe this time after the installation it will work again normally since it has a fresh configuration.

I suppose your project files could be damaged, and this is the reason of an unsuccessful printing.
