If you don't want to lose your time studying Flash you can use very simple tools that will do this job for you.

I can recommend you a free tool called Zoomify express. You can download it from the following link: http://www.zoomify.com/express.htm. With this tool you don't have to install anything and it makes high-quality images fast and easy to view. You use in a few following steps.

First, drag your image onto the Zoomify Converter to convert it into a Zoomify Image folder.

Then edit the TemplateWebPage.htm file in any HTML or text editor. You should change the text "ZoomifyImageExample" to the name of your Zoomify Image folder and be sure to change this text in two places in the file (once for Windows IE users and the second is for everyone else). Then save the file.

In the end, copy your Zoomify Imagefolder, your edited TemplateWebPage.htm file and the ZoomifyViewer.swf file to your Web server.
