Speech input can be useful when one or more of the following conditions apply:

• The user’s hands must be free to operate another device.
• The visual channels of communication are overloaded.
• The user has physical disabilities.
• The user must be free to move around.

Where audio input gives more benefit

Hey!

Audio input can be beneficial as compared to other forms of input in numerous situations. 

Most commonly, this can be used for blind people. They might want to input value in the form of audio.

This is also common in speech recognition softwares where you dictate the computer, and it types for you.

Alternatively, this can also be used in systems where giving other forms of input isn't possible, such as in IVR systems where only audio input is possible.
