What will happen if I increase my laptop’s RAM?

Hi. I have a laptop hp G5040ea. This laptop had 1 GB ram (512+512) in the beginning. I removed the one and replaced it with a 2GB ram. So, now it has 2,5 GB. My question is what will happen if I replace the second ram with another 2GB ram, so I have 4 GB. Is there any chance I burn it?

Or it just won't work. In the instructions it says that it can have only 2GB memory but I increased it to 2,5 so far and it seems to work fine. I would be interested in your opinions.

Dear friend I think you should not do it yourself; you decay firstborn experience if your laptop supports it. Now days the majority of laptops has 4GB RAM as the maximal, I don't recognize if the laptop hp G5040ea can hold solon.

Make sure your motherboard supports that amount of RAM that you will be adding. If it can support 4GB then it should be fine and there will not be any burning that will occur. Otherwise if it does not support it, it simply will give you an error message or will simply not boot up.

Just make sure that the motherboard supports the amount of memory first then you can ahead and make the upgrade. Refer to the manufacturer’s website for more information on your motherboard and its support configurations as well as other details that you might need to have for the computer.
