I noticed my computer getting slower and I could feel my CPU getting hotter. I fired up the task manager and saw that srtasks exe file was eating up my CPU process capacity. I do not know what is this file. I did not install it. Is it a virus? Can it be removed?
srtasks exe is an executable file and can indeed harm your computer. You should bear in mind that even the Microsoft Windows System Protection background tasks use this file.
For starters, try restarting your computer and fire up the task manager to check again. If the issue persists, I am afraid you’ll have to report the issue to Microsoft separately. Once you hear from them, you can follow whatever troubleshooting steps they suggest.
If you want to bypass all the hassle and want to solve the issue yourself, then I am afraid you have no other option but to install a new, clean version of Windows on your computer. Please be advised that doing so will clear out all the data from your computer. So please create a complete backup of the data on your computer before installing a new copy of Windows.
