Hello,

I have long use Notepad + + for several years in 32-bit systems. Fortunately now I have a 64-bit system and am reinstalling my system or what commonly used and Notepad + + is one of those essential utilities for me.

I attach a screenshot to see if anyone has any idea how to make it run well or how to solve this problem.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Katherine

This issue occurs because you have a wrong version of Notepad++ installed on our system.

And therefore it always crashes.

Please go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program and remove Notepad ++ from your system.

After this, download it from the link I have provided you.

It is Notepad++ 6.1.8 which is a stable version and it will not crash.

Notepad++ 6.1.8 released

I hope you will find this information useful.

If you installed Notepad++ on 64-bit Microsoft Windows and that triggered the error, it means it is only one of the possible causes that trigger the problem. The Win32Exception error you encountered didn’t only happen on 64-bit Microsoft Windows but on 32-bit operating systems as well while doing different operations and stuffs.

If you are using an older version or haven’t updated yet to the latest version, you should try updating. Go to Notepad++ Home and download the latest version. The program is not provided in a separate 64-bit version which probably means it works both on 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows. Also, 64-bit Microsoft Windows can run 32-bit applications. The 32-bit program runs in 32-bit compatibility mode.
