These are partially developed application software that can be further designed according to company or organizational requirements. They are licensed and could be leased rented or permanently purchased.

As they are not developed specifically so there is less chance of bugs and errors in them. They are less costly as compared to completely developed customized softwares. Have lesser initial cost but may be charged additionally when designed on demand. As it is not generically build for everyone that’s why it is totally useless for anyone else or if the organization diverts its field.

Also you have to update them on demand and have to pay for it whereas customized softwares launch the updates on regular basis.
