I am an active Steam user, and my friend joined it recently. I wanted to add him to my account, but I got back Steam Error adding friend on it. How can I fix this?

You can unblock your friends via friends list by selecting Unblock on orange-labeled friends. Try, any of the above, and you can resolve the issues.
If you have an account on Steam, there are three ways to add friends: you can look for your friend using the search function on the desktop app, website, or the mobile app; look for your friend on Facebook; and send your friend an invite link. The first two options allow you to send a friend request that your friend will see the next time he logs into Steam.
The third option allows you to send a link to your friend via email, text message, or whatever chat app you use to keep in touch. To search for your friend using the Steam desktop app, launch the app then hover your mouse over your username in the menu bar and then click “Friends,” “Add a Friend” then “GO SEARCH.”
Enter your friend’s name in the search field then locate your friend in the results. Click “ADD AS FRIEND” then “OK.” Just like with Facebook, your friend will need to accept your request before he appears in your friends list.
