I happen to have this error: Windows 8 RPx64 – VMware Workstation VMware workstation and Hyper – V compatible. Remove the Hyper – V role from the system before running VMware Workstation.

I know that Windows 8 is a new OS but what do I do with this. I pasted the error for your reference. Thanks in advance for your help.

VMware Workstation and Hyper-V not compatible

Greetings,

Windows 8 has a build in client side, Hyper-V. Using this, there is actually no need for Windows Server to host the VMs, client version of Hyper-V can create and manage your VMs inside window 8.

If you still wish to stick VMware workstation, there is a work around. However in this setup, it can only run 32-bit operating systems. Here are the steps:

1. Windows Key > type in "windows features"
2. Windows Key + W > Turn Windows features on or off
3. In the turn Windows features on or off box, uncheck Hyper-V and hit OK.
4. Restart the PC when asked.
5. You can now install VMware Workstation.
6. Go back to "Turn Windows features on or off" and enable Hyper-V.
7. Restart the PC.

1- Run a script as Administrator: C:WindowsSystem32bcdedit.exe/set {current} hypervisorlaunchtype off shutdown /r/f/t 0
2- You can run the VMware and Hyper V simultaneously, but one after another.
3- You can reactivate Hyper V hypervisorlaunchtype auto.
OR
4- Turn off USB support and paravirtualization and other VT modes.
5- You should have 2 NIC in your system, one bind to Hyper-V and no other vmdrivers connected to it.
6- The other NIC bind it to vmdrivers, so you can run both on your system."
