How best would someone utilize the free sound font yamaha xg version to optimize on tonal modulation given the limited functionalities of the free version of this multimedia application?

Dear Nancyy;

If you need perfect sound from your Yamaha XG Soft-synth that comes with FF7, you have to follow these steps.

• Go to control panel
• Switch XG-lite into XG-Soft.
• Select Yamaha XG MIDI.

FF8 install disc are now available and they gives ability to soft-synth to load DLS files automatically. In some sites DLS referred to as sound-fonts, so don’t ever confuse with that.

Hello Nancy Bird,

I have confirmed about the matter .I am giving tips for customizing sound in TiMidity. This will be also applicable in YmahaXG.

• After downloading application Run the program manually .
• You have to make sure of the followings

1. Timidity++Driver
2. Windrive Configurator setwindvr and
3. Creating shortcuts in start menu.

               Now

• Download somedude41's FF7 soundfont at https://publish.comcast.net/splash/7Esomedude41/
• Download SFPACK and unzip FF7.sfpack file.
• Boot up setwindvr, press the little "folder button" and locate the directory where ff7slb16.sf2 is,then press "Add" (the one with the blue arrow),select the ff7slb16.sf2 from the list on the right press "<= Add" (the one with the green arrow this time),and finally select "WinMM" from all those "Output Mode"s
• You can save & quit now.
• Boot up FF7config and jump to the MIDI tab.
• Here you need to set "MIDI Driver" to "Timidity++ Driver"
• and the "MIDI Data" to "General MIDI" (recommended) or "Yamaha XG MIDI"
• Boot FF7 and enjoy the improved song quality!
