My laptop is running on Windows 8.1 and I'm having some problems with my USB ports. It's frequently giving me errors like it cannot recognize the device etc. It does not happen all the time, but it's becoming too frequent and it's frustrating. I've plugged in different devices, sometimes it gets detected, sometimes it's not. Any help please?

There are some issues with Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows server 2012. This happens sometimes after you safely removed your USB devices, for some reason, the USB ports get disabled.
 
There is a hot fix from Microsoft to help you to correct the issue.
