Hi everybody,

I have recently bought HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520hc All-in-One Printer (CZ338A) and I am excited to install it and use it.

But, while installing inks it is not able to detect the black ink. I tried to reinstall the printer, but the same issue is coming.

Did anybody faced this issue ever? Is there something that I am missing? Please kindly advise. Thanks in advance for your kind help.

HI  John, if the printer is not detecting the ink cartridge, try to follow the ff procedure so that you can have your printer up & running in no time. Make sure your printer is plugged to the correct voltage power outlet. Try not to use an AVR or any type of surge protector just in case so as to avoid power fluctuations on your printer.  Then the next step is to remove both ink cartridges from your printer. Then disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and be careful not to press the power button. Then wait for approximately a minute then plug now the power cord back to the outlet. Next, wait for the printer to turn on completely, now is the time to install the ink cartridges.

If you bought a new ink for your printer but you encountered a problem when installing the cartridge like in your case, the black ink can’t be detected, make sure you completely remove the protective strips from the new cartridge. When buying a new cartridge for your printer, there is a protective cover or plastic strip attached to the cartridge when you take it out of its packaging.

It will create a bit of a problem for you if you failed to completely remove the protective strips because the printer will surely fail to register the new cartridge. If this doesn’t work, try resetting the printer’s memory. Remove the new cartridge and replace it with the old one. Leave it there for like ten minutes (10). After this, replace the old cartridge with the new one.

Next, check if your printer now recognizes the new cartridge. If this doesn’t work, remove the new cartridge and place it somewhere safe. After this, turn off the printer using the power button and unplug it from the power for about ten minutes (10). After ten minutes, plug the printer back to the power but don’t turn it on yet.

Now, insert or install the new cartridge on the printer. Once the cartridge is installed, press the power button to turn on your printer.
