Hello,

Token Passing is a term using in Network. Simply words it can be describe as a channel access method.

Token Passing is a Data Link Protocol that inserts a three byte token into a frame and passes it around the network in a single route from one node to another until it forms a complete loop.

In Token Passing only one node can send a data at a time and collision are avoided.

Token Ring and ARCNET are the example of Token Passing.

Thank You

Hi,

Token passing utilize a frame called a token, which flows around the network. A computer that wishes to pass on must wait until it receives the token, at which time the computer is allowable to pass on. When the computer is completed transmitting, it deliver the token frame to the next station on the network.

Thanks!
