There is no input plugin to handle the location of this movie

Hello,

I am using the Totem movie player to play all kinds of files but I got an error message when I try to play AVI videos using the Totem movie player. I just installed the latest version to fix this error but the same error exists. How can I fix this problem? I need your suggestion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Totem could not play ‘vcd:///media/cdrom0’.

Hi Violet,

Totem movie players can play AVI format. Base on the error "Totem could not play 'vcd:///media/cdrom0" it means you're trying to play a VCD file. Before you can play a VCD file to Totem you need to install first a plugins and software which will allow you to do that.

These are the software that you need to install to your computer:

* Gnome 2.10

* GStreamer 0.10.12 together with GStreamer-pluins 0.10.12

* Gromit 220041213

* libdvdcss (this is to play a DVD)

You can even watch a digital television but you need a DVB-T or DVB-S card that can support your Operating system and a gnome dvd daemon.

Hi Violet,

 

The error you are getting “Totem could not play 'vcd:///media/cdrom0" it comes only when you play a VCD files to Totem.

 

And to solve this problem:

 

• You install gxine through synaptic:
• Once you open gxine you will get an option DVD/VCD etc
• Choose VCD and you have a player that plays VCDs.
• The Screenshot below is of the gxine menu.
