I am attempting to open the Windows Vista Task Manager but this error appears: "The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with wavepad Shake Icon" I have a licensed version of WavePad sound editor. I purchased it 2 months ago. The error seems to be part of Scheduled Task. How and where can I disable it?

To resolve that problem, you will need to do the following:

  • You will need to open the Windows Registry Editor by pressing Windows-r to open the run box, and then you will type in regedit and then hit enter.
  • After that you will need to Navigate to the following key in the tree structure in the folder view.
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheTree.
  • There you will see a list of scheduled tasks, which should include the task that is causing the error message when opening the Task Scheduler.
  • You will need to backup the Registry key and thereafter you will start deleting it.
  • You will just right-click the key that is causing the problems and then select Export. The Registry Editor will be able to save the key and the information in a Registry file on the system.
  • You will after that double-click on that file to import the information back to the Registry.
  • Once you have done the back up of the Registry key, you now can delete it by selecting it with the left mouse button and a tap on the delete key.

After the above processes you will need to restart your Task Scheduler and see if that fixed the issue.

I am going to suggest you two ways to resolve your problem, Firstly I will tell you a process step by step to get rid from this problem. But if you still having problem than then I will tell you an alternate method by which you can resolve your this problem.

You have to follow this process go to control panel backup and restore the center backup files some questions will be asked, you should answer them according to your desire. After this run backup, save settings and start backup files.

If you still receiving the same problem then you should do an alternate method, for this follow these steps; Go to command prompt, run administrator if it asking for a password then write your password and click continue. Then type the command sfcscannow then click enter. When the scan is completed then run the task manager. This will resolve your problem.
