I have a Mac PC with OS X v10.6.2. I tried to update it to the latest version which is 10.6.3, and suddenly, I received this error message during the installation stating that “System extension cannot be used” but the update was successful.

I have attached the said error below.

I don’t know what could be wrong with it.

I wish you could help me out with my problem.

System extension cannot be used

the system extension '/System/Library/Extensions/CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.

You may experience unexpected results if you have third party system software modifications installed or if you have modified the operating system through other means.

Try to install this update on non -startup volumes, but do this if the current startup volume has already been updated to Mac OS X Server v10. 6.3.

If the installation process was interrupted then use "standalone installer" from Apple Support Downloads to update.

You can also update it with

* Using software updates

* Installing on a remote server via server administration or the software update command-line utility.

Hello Kyle,

It should be a keylogger causing all this problem. And it is not a regular part of OSX, more likely resulting problems of compatibility with Snow Leopard.

Here is something you can try to get rid of it. You should be running an account as the administrator and for the following, you will be using the administrator's password.

Run the .command file located at the root of the hard drive,  LogKextUninstall.command.

If you don't t find it, try to run it via Terminal.app with the command given below:

sh /LogKextUninstall.command

Reboot and you should be done. Be more careful with the command entering port.

Hope you will find this worth.
