My Skype is been hanging in my Samsung pocket and at a times this problem persist causing my phone to freeze,

why is happening?

This is quiet often observing in touch screen based mobiles. The problem over here is the process may stuck when you are using it. You can try the beta version of Skype which has been launched recently. This may help you i guess. If the problem still occurs try using the Slide It which is an alternative for Skype and its not a freeware.

But there is a trial version of that app which can be used in place of that. Make sure you use only one of them not both at a time. Which may give you additional problems later. So better use the Slide It which I feel is the better tool which performs well and is good and easy to use.

Since you are running Skype on your Android Smartphone, I don’t see any problem with regards to the operating system if we’ll point it out on compatibility issue. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300 is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Skype only requires Android 2.2 and higher to work. I think the reason why it hangs is because of very little RAM left for the program to use.

Though Skype only requires very little amount of memory, about 27 MB, it’s still a big factor for the handset if you are simultaneously running multiple applications. To make it work and avoid untimely freezing of the handset, make sure to close other applications that are not in use. Check also the programs running in the background.

You can find it in the Task Manager by pressing and holding on the Home button until the Task Manager screen appears. Sometimes applications you previously closed are still running in the background and this is very common especially with games. Make sure all previously used applications are closed by checking them on the Task Manager. See image.

Restart Skype once you closed all running applications. If you wish to download Skype for your handset again, visit Skype for Android.
