I'm new to this and what I'm trying to do is create a website about my products.  I would like to attain back links from reputable websites that hosts similar content in my website.  How can I do off site optimisation to have a high SERP?  By the way, I use Mozilla Firefox 18.0.2.  Thanks.

Well, you are going to develop off-page optimization. There are so many tools available for collecting high SERP. But try to concentrate on this site because not all of them are showing good results.

You can visit Alexa for ranking or PR-checker. Moreover, you can visit different forums to get solutions. I think you can do it easily.
