SQL server 2008 r2 developer edition download

SQL Server 2008 r2 developer edition has same code base and same features which are available in SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition. Only difference between them is in the licensing terms. Developer Edition cannot be used in production environment but on development server only. This provides a rich set of features, data protection and performance for embedded applications.

Some of the requirements are previous edition service packs must be present. 32-bit or 64-bit system can be used. Minimum of 256Mb RAM must be used. Steps to be followed are – download Microsoft .NET framework and then install windows installer. Then download the installation file of SQL developer server and run it to completely finish the procedure.

If you are looking for the system requirements for SQL Server 2008 R2, go to SQL Server 2008 R2 Hardware and Software Requirements. First of, if you are looking for a free download of SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer edition, I don’t think you will find any because it is a myth.

The developer edition is not free and costs around $50 to download but that was back in 2008. Second, you cannot use it in production environment and can only be used on development server. Third, SQL Server 2008 is based on SQL Server 2008 Enterprise edition which also has the same features.

If you are a developer and still looking for a free edition of SQL Server 2008, you should try SQL Server Express edition. You can download the Express edition from SQL Server Express 2008 R2.
