Aside from using Skype to make video and voice calls to friends, you can also use it to make a phone call to a Smartphone or landline. But to do this, you need to have a subscription or Skype Credit. To subscribe, you have three options: World, United States, and China. All three subscriptions support both mobile phones and landlines.

  • Skype World subscription – supports unlimited minutes, 63 destinations, and costs $13.99 a month.
  • Skype United States subscription – three destinations, unlimited minutes, and costs $2.99 a month.
  • Skype China subscription – supports 1000 minutes and costs $6.99 a month.

For more information, go to Skype International Calling Rates. If you are subscribed, start Skype and log in to your account. Next, click the call phones icon to display the dial pad. You will then see your current country and the relevant calling rates. Select the country where you want to place a phone call from the dropdown list just above the dial pad.

Enter the number you want to call then click on the blue call button.
