I am new to the PC enthusiast world and I was looking for the different ways to overclock a CPU/GPU. All the methods I came across required to go into the computer’s BIOS or custom software. I also heard that Intel is coming out with overclocking software. Is it true?

Yes. What you heard is in fact true. Intel has come out with a one-click overclocking software. As far as GPUs are concerned, Nvidia also launched a single click overclocking option for its RTX GPUs in 2018.

The tool is called the Nvidia Scanner. If you are new to overclocking, the testing and overclocking software can be a little overwhelming. Nvidia has definitely made it as easy as possible. The OC Scanner feature is available in MSI and EVGA cards. It tests the system stability at different clock speeds and voltages and performs overclocking accordingly.

The automatic or one-click overclocking option provided by Intel is only available for a few CPUs a list is easily available on the web. The tool is called IPM (Intel Performance Maximizer). IPM creates its own partition and works from there. Intel also has a special warranty plan for IPM users for CPU replacement in case of catastrophic overclocking.
