There are different reasons why this error is thrown. If you ran into this problem, check your system if it’s compatible with the game. The SIMS 3 requires at least a Pentium 4 2.0 GHz processor or higher, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, or Windows 7, 1 GB RAM minimum, graphics card with 128 MB video RAM or higher with support for Pixel Shader 2.0, and 3.5 GB free hard drive space.

Your system should always be compatible with the game before you can play it. If there seems to be no problem, try running it as administrator. On your desktop, right-click on The SIMS 3 icon, point to “Run as”, and then select Administrator. See if this works. If not, try this instead. Go to “documentelectronic artssims 3dc cache” and find “missingdeps.idx”. Delete it.

The SIMS 3 should play normally again after that. If that doesn’t work either, open My Computer and go to “C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsThe Sims 3GameBin” or the default installation path. Double-click “TS3.exe” to run it. The SIMS 3 will run without the launcher.
