I have a PS3 connected to the same Verizon Fios network router as my computer. My game system recognizes my computer and has a pre-made file with sub-categories listed, but registers no files shared. How can I share a file on my PC with my PS3 console?

Just making clear, did you mean you want to share or transfer a file from your PC to your PS3 or is it the other way around? On simple file sharing, make sure your file sharing is set as ‘ON’. Then check how your Managing Levels of Access to share Files is set. Check your guidelines on sharing files. If you need more clarifications visit https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/.

To share files (only media files) from pc to ps3 at first you need these:

1. Wi-Fi Device (Router)

2. PS3 & PC or Laptop

3. Windows Media Player 11 or Higher Version (WMP)

Next follow these steps accordingly:

Step-1:  On PS3 & connect to Wi-Fi Network.

Step-2:  On your PC or Laptop then install WMP and connect to same Wi-Fi network.

Step-3:  open Windows Media Player 11 go to Tools>Options.

Step-4:  In the options dialog box click the library tab, then click Configure Sharing & wait.

Step-5:  You’ll see all the computers on your network & an "unknown device" (It is your PS3).

Step-6:  Right click on "unknown device" and then select “Allow”.

Step-7:  Now see your PS3 you’ll see a Windows-like icon at the top of Pictures, Music and Video sections… Click that icon  to access your content library.

Now you’ll able to access the media items of pc from your PS3 (But it should be Supported Files format for PS3)
