Send message Error – An error occurred while sending mail

Hi,

I was in the process of sending mails and suddenly I received an error message “An error occurred sending mail”: I can’t understand what did happen please help me to resolve this error. I am the user of Windows XP. See the exact error message as given below.

Send message Error:

Sending of message failed.

An error occurred sending mail: Unable to establish a secure link with SMTP server smtp.googlemail.com using STARTTLS since it doesn't advertise that feature. Switch off STARTTLS for that server or contact your service provider.

Hi William,

The error message appeared because of antivirus software. You may have downloaded the latest upgrades for this that affects the other programs such as emails. Your antivirus software blocks your outgoing mails. We recommend to disable your scanning feature of outgoing emails. If you're using Avast, you should unchecked "Scan outbound messages" in the Mail Shield pop up window.

Once you finish doing the steps above, you should be able to continue sending emails.
