Scanner installation error on hard drive

I have recently bought  a used scanner with 3 installation discs.

I installed it and it seems to be on my hard drive but when I click on the scanner icon, I get this error message, " THE SHELL 32.DLL FILE is linked to the missingexport SHLWAPI .DLL:SH REG US VALU A ".

What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Hi rose Taylor ,

  • The problem s not from the hardware I think that your hardware is not damaged because if it is damaged your OS will  not detect it or if it detect it will be installed correctly but it will not work so what you have to do is make sure that your scanner is not damaged then connect it to your pc and restart your computer
  • then you have to go to pilot installation if you have the same error make sure that the pilot driver you have work in the OS that mean you cannot install a scanner with windows 7 pilot in windows XP those are not the same
  • if you have the same error search net for another version of driver because the problem is missing or damaged dll file

It mean that your installation is not fully completed and it keeps some errors in this case you can reinstall your scanner drivers and this time make sure you choose the settings that best for your device.

The other solution for this can be to install a new copy  of drivers or install updated drivers for your drive you can search drivers from network then download them to your drive and then install them. But first make sure which kind of driver your device supports. Also if you can installed your major drivers then you can don't need to install the software for reorganizing the pictures and for editing them.

So you need to install the basic drivers and then you can just go to scan document using window scan or office document format. It will not only reduce your load on hard drive but will be more easier for you to scan document.
