Hello Cody,

Ok Scanner is not damage. And have used it before installing Windows XP. Then after the virus messed up your unit you installed software to protect your computer? Then scanner is non existent in Photoshop is that correct. So here's what we going to do.

As you have said a virus infiltrated your unit so most probably it's really messed up. So try installing the software of your scanner.

First attach the scanner to your unit then install. It should be detected now after the installation process and a quick restart.

But you also said you have used it before installing Windows XP right? So what was your operating system then? Does your scanner compatible to the Windows XP OS? Please do Check.

Hope this helps.

The life of our gadgets depend on how we use it. Don't ever go online if your computer doesn't have any running antivirus. If that’s the story of your computer and the scanner, the missing link here is the scanner’s driver. Without it you can never use your scanner.

If you reformatted your computer’s hard drive after it was infected by a virus, then just install the scanner’s driver then you’re set to go. All things back to normal. When you attach the USB plug of the scanner to your computer, eventually, Windows will detect it as a new device.

But it’s only up to there. Windows doesn’t have the scanner’s driver. If you think that after inserting the plug to your computer Windows will automatically install the scanner’s software, you’re wrong. Every scanner device has its own installation program and it’s not bundled with Windows.

All you have to do is load the installation CD of the scanner in the CD-ROM drive. Windows will automatically load the program in the CD. Then just follow the steps. If it did not load automatically, then browse your CD-ROM with the Windows Explorer and look for the setup.exe file, double-click it to launch and just follow the next steps.

Hello,

Virus is not the problem of your computer to run your Cannon Lide Scanner it's because of the Operating system that you have installed. If you wish to bring back the existence including the desktop shortcut all you need to do is to ready your CD/DVD disk Installer provided by your product.

Easy and simple insert the disk > to CD/DVD drive > wait for the cd to run. The cd might have a manual where you can read for more further instruction. Other printer or scanner requires to be connected and power on while installing so make sure follow the instruction provided.

And also if your having a problem with the installing cd you have you can download the driver here:

It is free and safe, download it on your own risk.
