Scan very old images as JPEG or TIFF??

I am about to scan some very very old photos at high DPI. Can anyone suggest me at what resolution must I save them and whether as JPEG or TIFF file?

Hi Alan,
Both JPEG and TIFF files have the advantages and limitations mentioned below:
The Advantages of JPEG file are as follows:
1) The file size is smaller because it uses loss compression to reduce the file size
2) It is supported by many software and photo sharing websites
3) It takes less time to upload and less memory space due to its size
The limitations of JPEG file are as follows:
1) The compression discards some image data based on the value
2) It provides high quality but not the best valued

The advantages of TIFF files are as mentioned below:
1) The original size of the image is maintained as no compression is applied
2) The picture quality is best and accurate
3) The photo quality is not degraded after editing the picture
The limitations of the TIFF files are as follows:
1) The large file size takes more time for uploading it on the email
2) It is not supported by many websites and software
