Hello,

The right click/button of my mouse is not working. Left click and scroll is working but not the right click. What will I do to make it work again? I haven't done anything and it is still working yesterday. Cursor is also moving when I move the mouse. I can also highlight words but when I right click the mouse, it does not respond. Please help. Thank you so much.

Try and restart the computer and see if anything changes.

Try reseating the mouse from its port.

Try using the mouse in another computer and observe if it exhibits the same behavior. If it does, you may need to reinstall your mouse drivers on your computer and check the mouse settings in the Control Panel. If it doesn't work still on another machine, then most likely the mouse that your using already has a defective right mouse button. Perhaps the mechanism that makes it work has already been damaged or one of its sensors has stopped functioning. While you don't have a new mouse yet, you may use the right click button on the keyboard (the key to the right of the right Windows button).

Hi Benchua,

You have to open inside the mouse and see what the problem is. May be there is some loose wires inside the mouse that you will be required to fix. The mouse should be having a screw somewhere which will allow you to open it.

Otherwise check the USB cable contacts, both for the mouse and the computer to see if they are worn out or they are in good condition. If they are in bad condition/worn out then it is time that you have to consider replacing them

Hope this helps.

Try checking your mouse settings and make sure the right mouse button has a function assigned to it. If there is and it's not doing it, try using a mouse that known to work on the same port that you used for the mouse. If a known working mouse works, then you need to replace your current mouse. It is very likely that the mechanism that makes the right click button work has already gone defective and it's more practical to just replace the mouse instead of opening it for repair as the components inside the mouse are hard to repair. While you don't have a replacement mouse yet, you can make use of the right click key on the keyboard. That would be the key to the right of the windows button to the right of the spacebar.
