Hi experts

When I try to install the Windows 2008 R2 like a VM in HyperV, I got the following error message appears:

“(Load driver) A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.”

When I got this error message, I was quite astonished because I had done this before by the same way.

However, quickly I realized the reason behind this error message: it was a damaged ISO file.

Then i solved this problem by this way: again have to download the ISO file from a reliable source, or try to get yourself a Windows 2008 DVD, and accumulate it to the VM.

Please just tell me how this ISO file got corrupted? Please help me to find out this. Thanks.

A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.

Hi Shirley, there is no need to be astonished as of today's wicked and harmful viruses. Yes, it was tagged as compressed file like .zip, .rar, or in your case, .iso file cannot be affected by viruses, though, regrettably viruses can also hurt the stated file formats. In your scenario, you are facing the problem because of the affected .iso file, as you said, you need to download it and start over again.
