I am always forgetting meetings and plans but I am not rich enough to be able to afford a personal assistant. I wonder if there is software that sends emails or SMSs as reminders so that I don’t forget events and meetings.

Ms. Jessica Long,

I have researched this issue. You can use  Pentalogic SharePoint Reminder web- web parts from microsoft.

I believe that this software will help you because it will remind you of your various tasks – such as date based reminders, due soon and overdue tasks and events, customized email content, and drive simple work flow.  Its key features include reminders sent at specified time and customized alert emails with your own content. It will also send alert emails to individuals or groups and more…….   You can download a free trial version of the software at pentalogic.net. It could be worth a try.

There are software that will act as your personal assistant, reminding you of activities you should attend on a day-to-day basis, hourly, weekly, monthly and or even yearly.

Some software is not free, you can either subscribe or install this software for a one-time payment. It's not cheap but it helps by sending email and text SMS.

Email clients  such as Outlook 2007, Windows Mail or even a Gmail and Yahoo all have calendars. You can customize the dates, hours, times that reminders will be sent to you via emails into your account.

Computers also have this feature, called Windows sticky notes. This displays on the desktop as a reminder when you turn on your computer. Calendar also can be your personal assistance as can cell phones.
