Does increasing the RAM of a system actually help increase the performance of a system? Or should one consider upgrading the Memory of the system from hard drive to solid state drive? Which one will bump the performance and how?

Increasing the RAM will be helpful to the system only if you are running out of memory i.e. the RAM usage gets up to 70% or higher. You can check your memory usage through the task manager simply by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc.

Whereas an SSD upgrade would improve the performance by increasing the speed of accessing files in your system. But it wouldn’t increase performance if your RAM usage is already too high. So, it basically depends on what you actually need.
