I am getting QuickTime Error # 0 on startup. I posted the screenshot of the error I am encountering.

And also, the Windows XP System Configuration Utility window keeps on re-appearing.

I can’t uninstall QT because I am using it with my iPad.

Please help me.

As you mentioned that you get this error on every system startup means that there is something wrong with the initialization of one of its components. There must be a plugin problem of the Quick time.

  1. First check the windows firewall settings. There is a possibility that it is blocking the program. If it is then add it to Firewall exceptions. Restart the computer and see what happens.
  2. Also if you have any antivirus then check its Virus scan reports either it is detecting any file related to Quick Time as potential threat. If it is there then you have to delete it.
  3. I said in the start that there might be something wrong with the plugins, so lets move on this.
  4. If you are using Mozilla, go to plugins folder in the browser and delete the files that resembles npqtplugin*.dll.
  5. Do the same after going in the Quick time plugins folder.
  6. After that set your preference again by going to start control panel and then quick time, browser tab and then mime settings.
  7. Still you got the error then it is time to delete the pluginreg.dat from the Firefox profile folder.
