Problem with my HP Photosmart scanner

Hi everyone ,

I can’t use the scanning feature on My HP Photosmart C4500 All-In-One. It sounds like its doing something when I check the printer itself but on my Mac Computer I keep on getting the error “an unknown error occurred, or can't find scanner".  

Please help me with this.

Problem with my HP Photosmart scanner

Two things, it can either be software or hardware related.

Solution 1: Download the basic driver installer of the printer from the HP website. It might be possible that you operating system have updated and did a conflict with the current installed driver so you must try solving it using this basic driver package. Why use this and not the CD?

It will only give you the same error all over again. Try it also on other computers to prove that it is software related.

Solution 2: If nothing is still happening, I suggest that you got to a technician with expertise in hardware repair especially printer. It is possible that the scanner is the one that is broken. Avail the warranty if it is still valid.

Problem with my HP Photosmart scanner

I tried it on the other computer to see if it works and it worked.

I installed the basic driver package as you recommended.
