Problem in my battery during the installation of Windows 8.1

Hello experts,

I updated my Windows 8 to 8.1. Before the update, my laptop's battery  was 6-8 hours. But after the update, the remaining battery level was 3-4 hours. I then used the Windows Backup and decided to wipe my hard disk drive. The battery level becomes 7-hours left. I'm not sure if this issue occurs because of the update or because of the files that was deleted from my hard drive. Can someone tell me what is causing the battery level to change?

Microsoft already issued a workaround to fix this problem and allowing the battery to work normal again.

Here's a step by step guide in order to fix your problem.

1. Open command prompt with administrative rights.

2. Click search.

3. Typed command prompt.

4. Right click command prompt to open another menu then click Run as administrator.

5. Click yes on the user dialog box.

6. You will see the Administrator then enter this in command prompt powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT 19cbb8fa-5279-450e-9fac-8a3d5fedd0c1 12bbebe6-58d6-4636-95bb-3217ef867c1a 3.

7. After you enter step 6, enter this powercfg -setactive scheme_current.
