I want to do a powered by myBB creation of yours truly me. Now what I want to do is prevent spam. I don't want foreign people posting spam and I do not know how I can filter this. Can anybody recommend a way to prevent this?

Hi,

You can stop spam by Installing Stopforumspam.com MyBB Spam prevention plugin this plugin will check for known spammers that might be trying to register on your forum and block them. Or you can also use reCAPICHA instead of the default MyBB captcha. You can also install Fassim Anti MyBB Spam Forum plugin. I hope you find these helpful.

Since you are using MyBB, here are two of the best anti-spam plug-ins you can use:

• Register Time v 1.1 – this plug-in can block spambots from registering on your board like XRumer. Spambots have the ability to register on any forum site and can finish filling the registration form within five seconds or maybe less and humans doing the registration can’t finish it in that given time frame. This plug-in measures the amount of time the form is loaded and submitted and if it’s lesser than the set time, which is set to 15 seconds by default, an error is thrown making the registration invalid. • Stopforumspam.com for MyBB – Spam prevention – this plug-in allows you to check all new registrations to your forum site against the stopforumspam.com database verifying each new registration for known spammers.
