I would like to enquire whether its possible to get a faster Internet connection like 3G on my Dell computer with Windows XP installed and having a dial-up modem.
Yes, it is possible to make your Dell computer’s 3G internet connection go a little bit faster by adjusting its settings. A 3G internet connection relies on the 3G signal that is received in your area.
The stronger the signal that you receive, the better the connection’s stability. If you are using a 3G broadband USB modem stick, you can change the way the modem connects to the network by going to Tools, Options, Network under Network Type just like in the image below.
If the Network Type your 3G modem uses is set to 3G preferred, the connection will automatically shift between the available signals received in your area. It will automatically select the next strongest signal received by the modem.
This setting is often slow because it often sticks to GPRS because this is the signal that is often the strongest. Select 3G only so that your connection will stay in 3G and this is the fastest network available.
If your modem can receive 4G signal, better shift to this because this is a lot more faster than 3G.
