Google and Oracle set for a for a court face off after two years of the pretrial battles over Android and Java programming languages. 

Is it possible to copyright a computer language?

Possibility of copyright of computer languages

Hi there,

It is known clearly that Source code of a particular program is copyrightable, but is it same for the programming language that it was written in? , it is a huge subject matter where both parties have adequate evidences whether or not a particular programming language is copyrightable of not.

API‘s which are mainstay in various programming language are not copyrightable and without API’s a programming is nothing but a useless piece of garbles texts making no sense whatsoever. Therefore in order to justify a programming language’s existence API’s are required.

Possibility of copyright of computer languages

Hi Tracy Killen,

 

The European Court of Justice made a decision that a computer program and the programming language in which it was created cannot be protected by copyright.
