Portable Hard Drive Makes an error

I just brought a 320GB portable harddisk.

I connected it in to my computer.

It showing in my computer.

When i try to copy something to hard It makes an error like "Windows has recovered  from a serious error" any body know what to do

Portable Hard Drive Makes an error

The best thing to do is to try your portable harddisk in another computer. If it works fine and doesn't show the error message you can come to conclusion that there is some problem with your computer's operating system. If your hard disk still shows that message then there is problem with your hard disk. In that case try formatting everything of the hard disk and try again. 

You can solve problem of your computer by re installing the operating system or cleaning up any virus if there is of your computer. Also try disk clean up and defragment.

Also try restarting your computer first which comes handy sometime.

Portable Hard Drive Makes an error

Check the drivers for your portable drive and make them up to date do you use Safely remove hardware when un plugging your hard drive it is necessary for any plug and play memory element you need to remove from your PC it stops the operation of the device and then you can safely remove it from your computer.

If this is not the problem then check your portable disk in CMD and check if any error found check the bad sectors and check the over all device. You can do this by going START and then to RUN here type CMD and click ok in new window type your drive

letter and then : and press enter e.g. F: and then enter you will see some message or you will see the data of your drive if you see some message then you can run a check disk on your drive to do this type chkdsk and press enter it will check your disk and if any problem found then you can consult a hardware store.

But i hope this will solve your problem.
