Play FLV videos in MAC OSX Lion

I have a problem with my Quicktime player, it can't play any FLV videos. When I try to play FLV videos I only hear audio, no video content is available. I am using Quicktime player 7, and I also tried the VLC player, it too can't read some files. Please help me here, give me some suggestions in this issue.

Play FLV videos in MAC OSX Lion

It's unfortunate that you are unable to play videos in Apple QuickTime. I've been reading about this and seems a lot of people have been experiencing this as well. I've found that downgrading the QuickTime to older versions have can fix the problem more often than not. I'd say it's worth a shot. Visit this site for a list of older versions of QuickTime. Take note though, iTunes may not work after downgrading QuickTime.

 

Alternatively, I'd personally recommend switching to another video player. There's this which supports practically any type of video and audio formats, VLC player. It is an open source application, initially developed by VideoLAN. Try it and you might find it to your liking. You can download it here.

Hello Freddie,

 

It seems that the problem you are having on your computer is caused by a missing codec. Multimedia Players behave this way if it encounters a file that it doesn't support. The reason why you only hear the audio part is because that's the only part of the file that it recognizes and not the audio.

 

To resolve the issue, try downloading either of these two codec packs on your computer and install it.

 

K Lite codec pack – this is a widely known codec pack that allows you to play 99% of the clips that you get online.

 

Combined community codec pack – this is a straightforward codec pack that allows you to play your movies and video clips.

Play FLV videos in MAC OSX Lion

For Quicktime player problem working FLV videos:

1-    Install video converter on Mac OS X Lion, from this link: https://www.ifunia.com/video-converter-mac.html

2-    After the source downloaded, then run it.

3-    Go to File menu> choose > add video to open the FLV video that you want to watch.

4-    Choose the output of the video format as > MOV or QuickTime format.

5-    Click on the convert button to convert the FLV video to the suitable format.

For VLC media player:

1-    Download the VLC source from this link: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

2-    Install the source and after the file opens

3-    Then (ctrl+o) and open the FLV video to see if it works.
