Hi Guys,

I greatly appreciate your time to read this and hope to have your inputs. I have a PC on Windows Vista OS and had been trying in vain to update it for the past 2 years. I did everything that have been advised to solve the issue like virus scan, system restore, and restoring it back to factory settings, but still the problem persist.

The PC safety number worked with it too but still couldn't solve the problem. During the factory setting restore, it was stuck for 4 hours on this command:

C: usersownerappdatalocalmicrosoftwindowstemporary internet fileslowcontent.ie5scoyopgp.

I would be very thankful to whatever idea or advise that you could give me to help me out.

Hello Kim,

Are you trying to perform the Windows Updates or you are trying to update the Operating System itself. In case it is the Windows Updates, you will just need to check a few things and make sure that they are working properly before you proceed with the update:

  • You will need to make sure that you have an active access to the internet before you begin the update process, for the Windows will need to online and download the latest updates from there.
  • Ensure that the internet is not interrupted during the update process.

But if you are trying to update the OS, you will need to ensure that the Disc you are updating from does not have problems, for instance scratches, for that may be preventing data from it to be read successfully.

Regards,

Carl
