I cannot find a concise, direct answer to this question anywhere. Also, when my Galaxy is connected to the PC, I see no recognition that the device is connected — no pop up window or sign of it in removable storage.

Easiest way of transferring photos or other data to your Galaxy S2 to Pc is using Windows Explorer. Connect your device (Galaxy S2) with pc, it will appear as a mass storage device.  Now browse with windows explorer and complete simple copy-past. But your problem is, pc does not recognize your device. There are two suggestions for you:

1. Check your data cable and ensure it is okay.

2. Try with different usb (universal serial bus) port.

3. Windows 7 has default usb driver, but if it doesn't work try Samsung file manager named "Samsung Pc Studio".
