ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_UNSUPPORTED 1637 This patch package cannot be processed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service.

What does Error_patch_package_unsupported indicate when I boot-up my Lexmark Should I worry?

Immediately after attempting to upgrade my newly installed Lexmark, it shows an error of Error_patch_package_unsupported, is there someone nice enough to explain how to fix it if you please?

This patch package cannot be processed by the Windows Installer service

ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_UNSUPPORTED  1637 occurs when you try to install some package that cannot be processed by the Windows Installer service. You must try installing a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service. You can try just upgrading your Windows Installer service from this location:

• For Windows XP
• For Windows Vista/7 x86
• For Windows Vista/7 x64

If none of above solutions works, you’ll have to upgrade your Operating System to newer Service Pack. If you are using Windows XP, download and install Service Pack 3 from this location:

• https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/290158/list-of-error-codes-and-error-messages-for-windows-installer-processes

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, just enable automatic updating in Windows Update in Control Panel, and Windows Vista will automatically notify you that Service Pack is ready to install, or Windows 7 will install it without prior notifications.
